Kick off the new year with fun programs for the family from St. Lucie County libraries. Children and family programs for January include:
- S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
- Thursday, Jan. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Lewis Branch
- Saturday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. at the Hurston Branch
- Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch
- Winter Scavenger Hunt on Thursday, Jan. 2 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Pick up a scavenger hunt sheet at the youth desk, look for hidden pictures throughout the library and turn it in for a prize once you’re finished.
- Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Jan. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Drop in during regular hours to see if you can find all the clues.
- LEGOS and More on Saturdays, January 4 & 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us for building and creating with LEGO bricks along with cards, board games and crafts.
- Movie Matinee: “The Garfield Movie” (2024) on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2:30 p.m. a the Morningside Branch. Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father (scruffy street cat) Vic - Garfield and his canine friend, Odie, are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist. The film is rated PG with a running time of 101 minutes.
- Kids Crafternoon on Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy an afternoon of crafts at the library. All materials supplied. Best suited for grades 3-8.
- Game Day on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Cards, Monopoly and more. Bring a few friends and a love for games and join us for some good old-fashioned board game fun. Some games provided or bring your favorites.
- LEGO Fun at the Library on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Build and create with LEGO bricks. Best suited for elementary-age students.
- LEGOS and More on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us for building with LEGO bricks along with card games, board games and crafts.
- Kid Crafternoon on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us in creating a fun craft. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 10 and older.
- Family Game Night on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Join us at the library for some good old fashioned board game fun. This is a family event for parents and children. Bring your own family game or use ours.
- Saturday Kids Craft on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 10 and older.

- Just Baby & Me on Tuesdays at the Lewis Branch (Two sessions at 10:30 and 11 a.m.). Fun for you and your baby. Best suited for infants up to 1 year old.
- Storytime Jam at 10:30 a.m. Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3-5.
- Wednesdays at the Kilmer Branch
- Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
- Music & Motion for Kids at 10:30 a.m. - Action songs, movement, singing and fun. For children younger than 6 with a caregiver.
- Wednesdays at the Lewis Branch (Two sessions: 10:30 & 11 a.m.)
- Wednesdays at the Morningside Branch
- Fridays at the Lakewood Park Branch
- Tales & Play on Fridays at the Morningside Branch. Children ages infant to 5 years old and their caregivers are invited for a storytime. Afterward, all are welcome to stay for some open playtime.
- Pre-school Storybook Craft at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories and then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.

Preteens and Teens:
- Bead Crafting on Friday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Kilmer Branch. Make a friendship bracelet or other beaded craft using our assortment of supplies. No registration necessary. All supplies provided. This program is best suited for grades 5 and up.
- Teen Table Time on Tuesdays, Jan. 7 & 28 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Tweens and teens gather for various role playing game adventures across fantastical worlds. Best suited for ages 11-18.
- Anime Multimedia Club on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 4:15 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Teens and tweens come and meet up with friends and share your passion for all things anime and manga. Best suited for grades 6 and up.
- Teen/Tween Crafternoon on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy an afternoon of crafts at the library. Best suited for ages 11-18. All materials supplied.
- Teen/Tween Crafternoon on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 4:15 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Enjoy a fun crafternoon at the library. A variety of new supplies will be provided along with several project ideas. You can follow along with a new craft or work on your own project.
- Teen Gaming Tournament on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Join us for a Nintendo Switch tournament. Best suited for ages 11-18.
