Keep Children Engaged with St. Lucie County Youth Library Programs

St. Lucie County’s libraries make learning and social engagement fun for all ages with a variety of family programs.

Children and family activities for September include:

  • Yoga Bugs on Tuesdays, Sept. 3 & 17 at 10 a.m. at the Pruitt Branch. Through stories, songs and playful yoga poses, little ones will explore mindfulness in a fun environment. Best suited for ages 3-5 years. Pre-registration is required  at: irsc.libguides.com/kidsyoga.
  • S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
    • Wednesday, Sept.  4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Thursday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. at the Lewis Branch
    • Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Hurston Branch
    • Saturday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch
  • Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Stop by the library to see if you can find all the clues.
  • LEGO at the Library. Get creative with LEGO bricks. Best suited for ages 5 and older.

    • Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Lewis Branch
    • Saturday Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morningside Branch

  • Movie Matinee: “Migration” (2023) on Friday, Aug. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. A family of ducks try to convince their overprotective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime. This animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 83 minutes.
  • Movie Matinee: “Kung Fu Panda 4” (2024) on Saturday, Sept. 7at 2:30 p.m. Po must train a new warrior when he's chosen to become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. This animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 94 minutes.
  • Tiny Artists on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Pruitt Branch. Join us for a story and explore art activities that develop early literacy skills such as pre-writing and imaginative play. Best suited for ages 18-36 months. Preregistration is required at irsc.libcal.com/calendar/pruittevents/tinyartists.
  • Kids Crafternoon: Enjoy an afternoon of arts & crafts. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 10 and older.
    • Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. at the Lewis Branch
    • Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch
  • Storytime with Arlene Vickers on Monday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pruitt Branch. Enjoy this family storytime with author Arlene Vickers as she reads her newly published book, “The Cow Who Couldn't Moo.” As always, with songs, games and fun.
  • Movie Matinee / Early Release Day: “The Garfield Movie” (2024) on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Kilmer Branch. The world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat is about to have a wild outdoor adventure. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, scruffy street cat, Vic. Garfield and his canine friend, Odie, are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist. This animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 101 minutes.
  • Nintendo Tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 2:30 p.m. on Morningside Branch. Early Release Day. Play Mario Kart on Nintendo Switch. Who will be victorious? Best suited for students in grades 3-8.
  • Game Day: Bring a few friends and a love for games and join us at the library for some good old-fashioned board game fun. Some supplies provided or bring your favorites.

    • Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. at Lakewood Park Branch
  • Family Game Night on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Join us for some good old board game fun. This is a family event for parents and children. Bring your own family game or use ours.
  • Bilingual Storytime on Friday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy a bilingual storytime in both English and Spanish. Best suited for ages 3-5.
  • Story Sprouts on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Pruitt Campus Library. Join us for some outdoor time. We'll read a story and explore some open-ended nature activities. Best suited for ages 18-36 months. Pre-registration is required. Register at: irsc.libcal.com/calendar/pruittevents/storysprouts.

Teens and Teens

  • Teen/Tween Crafternoon: Join us for a fun crafternoon at the library. A variety of new supplies will be provided along with several project ideas. You can follow along with a new craft or work on your own project. Supplies provided
    • Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 4:15 p.m. at Morningside Branch
    • Thursday, Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch
  • Teen Table Time on Tuesdays, Sept. 3 & 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch.  Tweens and teens gather for various role-playing game adventures across fantastical worlds. Best suited for kids ages 11-18.

  • Family Storytime at 10:30 AM - designed for children up to age 5, but all ages are welcome.
    • Mondays at the Pruitt Campus (no storytime September 2nd)
    • Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
  • Just Baby & Me on Tuesdays at the Lewis Branch. Fun for you and your baby. Best suited for infants up to 1 year old.
  • Storytime Jam at 10:30 AM. Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3-5.
    • Wednesdays at Kilmer Branch
    • Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
    • Fridays at the Lewis Branch
  • Music & Motion for Kids at 10:30 AM - Action songs, movement, singing and fun. For children younger than 6 with a caregiver.
    • Wednesdays at the Lewis Branch
    • Wednesdays at the Morningside Branch
    • Fridays at the Lakewood Park Branch.
  • Tales & Play on Fridays at the Morningside Branch. Children ages infant to 5 years old and their caregivers are invited for a story time. Afterward, all are welcome to stay for some open playtime.
  • Pre-school Storybook Craft at 10:30 AM. Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories and then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.
    • Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Fridays at the Hurston Branch
