Find Family Fun at St. Lucie County Libraries

Find family fun and early learning opportunities through interactive programs for the whole family through the St. Lucie County Library System.

Children’s and family activities for January 2024 include:  

  • S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
    • Lakewood Park Branch on Wednesday, January 3rd at 4:30 PM
    • Lewis Branch on Saturday, January 6th at 10:30 AM
    • Hurston Branch on Saturday, January 6th at 3:00 PM
    • Morningside Branch on Saturday, January 13th at 2:30 PM

  • Spy Society on Thursdays, January 4th and 18th at 4:00 PM at the Hurston Branch. Train to be a secret agent by participating in fun activities and brain games. Best suited for students in grades 4 and up.

  • Family Game Night on Thursday, January 4th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Morningside Branch. Join us for some good old board game fun. This is a family event for parents and children. Bring your own games or use ours.

  • Movie Matinee: “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie.” When a meteor crash lands in Adventure City, it gives the PAW Patrol superpowers. The pups must stop the supervillains before it's too late. This movie is rated PG with a running time of 90 minutes.

    • Saturday, January 6th at 2:30 PM at Morningside Branch

  • Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, January 6th between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Can you find all the clues? Drop in and give it a try.

  • Movie Matinee: “Vivo” on Saturday, January 13th at 10:30 AM at the Lewis Branch. Vivo and Gabi embark on a musical adventure. This movie is rated PG with a running time of 95 minutes.

  • Kids Crafternoon on Tuesday, January 16th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Make an afternoon of crafts at the library. All materials supplied. Best suited for students in grades 3-8.

  • Game Day: Cards, Monopoly & More on Wednesday, January 17th at 4:30 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Bring a few friends, a love for games and join us for some good old-fashioned board game fun. Some supplies provided or bring your favorites.

  • Bi-lingual Storytime on Friday, January 19th at 10:30 AM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy a bi-lingual story time in both English and Spanish. Best suited for ages 3-5.

  • Tea-Rex Party Storytime on Saturday, January 20th at 10:30 AM at the Morningside Branch. Join Bibliosaurus the TEA-rex for a tea party story, before enjoying cookies and "tea" (apple juice) and a craft.

  • LEGO Fun at the Library on Saturday, January 20th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy building and creating with LEGO bricks in the library. Best suited for elementary-age students.

  • Crazy 8’s Math Club on Wednesday, January 24th at 3:00 PM at the Kilmer Branch. The Crazy 8’s math club is back and now it is for the lower grades. Students in grades K through 2 can learn math in exciting new ways. From glow-in-the-dark activities to building new creations, kids will love every minute of this eight-week math club.

  • Kid Crafternoon on Wednesday, January 24th at 4:30 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Create a masterpiece with paper quilling. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 10 and older.

  • Family Game Night on Thursday, January 25th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join us for some good old board game fun. This is a family event for parents and children. Bring your own games or use ours.

  • Movie Matinee: “Paws of Fury: The Legon of Hank” on Saturday, January 27th at 10:30 AM.  Hank is a hound who dreams of one thing: To become a samurai. As he becomes the town’s samurai hero he must work with the townspeople to defeat their menacing enemy. This movie is rated PG  with a running time of 97 minutes.

Teens and Teens

  • Movie Matinee: “Liz and the Blue Bird” on Saturday, January 6th at 2:00 PM. Best friends in their last year of high school realize there is no such thing as being together forever. The movie is rated PG, with a running time of 90 minutes.

  • Anime Multimedia Club on Thursday, January 11th at 4:15 PM at the Morningside Branch.  Join us for our yearly good luck charm craft to bring good fortune into the new year. This program is best suited for kids in grades 6-12

  • Dungeons & Dragons on Thursday, January 11th from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM and Friday, January 12th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Players gather for adventures across fantastical worlds. Best suited for ages 11 – 18.

  • Teen/Tween Crafternoon on Tuesday, January 16th at 4:00 PM at the Morningside Branch.   A variety of supplies will be provided along with several project ideas. You can follow along or work on your own project.

  • Teen Crafternoon on Friday, January 19th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Decorate your very own New Year’s inspiration jars. Best suited for ages 11-18 and up. All materials supplied.

  • Teen Video Tournament: Nintendo Switch Mario Kart Tournament on Saturday, January 20th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Best suited for ages 11 – 18.

  • Teen Board Games Galore on Friday, January 26th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join us at the library for some good old board game fun! Best suited for ages 11-18. Bring your own board game or use ours.

  • Teen Crafternoon on Saturday, January 27th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Make your own soap at the library. All materials supplied. Best suited for ages 11-18.

Weekly Programs

  • Family Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 AM at the Pruitt Campus Library. Designed for children up to age 5 years, but all ages are welcome. Note: No storytime on December 8th and 25th

  • Just Baby & Me on Tuesdays (two sessions) at 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM at the Lewis Branch. Songs, stories and movement fun for you and your baby. Best suited for infants up to 1 year.

  • Tales & Play on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at the Morningside Branch. Children ages 0-5 and their caregivers are invited to story time. Afterward, all are welcome to stay for some open playtime.

  • Music & Motion for Kids - Action songs, movement, singing and fun. For children younger than 6 with a caregiver.
    • Second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 9:00 AM at the Port St. Lucie Branch
    • Wednesdays (two sessions) at 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM at the Lewis Branch
    • Fridays at 10:30 AM the Lakewood Park & Morningside Branches

  • Storytime Jam at 10:30 AM. Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3-5.
    • Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Wednesdays at Kilmer Branch
    • Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
    • Fridays at the Lewis Branch (except for the third Friday)

  • Pre-school Storybook Craft at 10:30 AM. Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories and then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.
    • Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Fridays at the Hurston Branch
