Hey, Students!
Help the City of Port St. Lucie Public Works Department
Name Its Newest Mini Street Sweeper

The City of Port St. Lucie is seeking students’ help naming the City's newest mini street sweeper, kicking off a contest to see who can come up with the best, most creative name for this unsung hero of Port St. Lucie's streets and sidewalks.

The new mini street sweeper joins the fleet of three regular size street sweepers that remove more than 504 tons of leaves, debris and trash from City streets each year. Street sweepers provide a significant environmental benefit by helping prevent debris from entering stormwater systems and eventually discharging into local waterways. Street sweepers typically run at night, sweeping approximately 600 miles of City roadways in addition to about 12 miles of state roadways within City limits, including Port St. Lucie Boulevard and U.S. 1. City street sweepers also provide special event cleanup after parades and other large-scale events.

“The mini sweeper is a unique and popular piece of equipment that is now necessary for our growing community,” said Deputy Director John Dunton, Public Works Leadership Fellow. “By maintaining a consistent street sweeping program, the City of Port St. Lucie aims to continue to keep Port St. Lucie safe, clean, and beautiful.
