The City of Port St. Lucie invites the community to commemorate National POW/MIA Remembrance Day on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 6:00 PM. The event will take place at Veterans Memorial Park, 2100 SE Veterans Memorial Parkway in Port St. Lucie.
The highlight of the evening will be the solemn unveiling of the POW/MIA Chair of Honor—a symbol of remembrance and tribute to the servicemen and women who have been Prisoners of War (POW) or are Missing in Action (MIA). The chair represents the vacant seats of those who have not returned and serves as a powerful reminder of their sacrifice.
National POW/MIA Remembrance Day is observed to honor and remember the service members who were Prisoners of War (POW) or are Missing in Action (MIA). The event will feature guest speakers Bobbie Williams, Lt. Col. Army, Retired Military Officers Association of America, Treasure Coast Chapter. The ceremony will also include a performance of “God Bless America” and an armed forces medley by the Port St. Lucie Community Band, a rifle salute, the national anthem, a resounding of taps and more.
Councilman David Pickett, SFC, Retired US Army Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan Veterans Association, will be among the notable figures attending the Memorial Day Service. Additionally, John Ramos, U.S. Army veteran, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Seating is limited, so arriving early and bringing a chair is recommended.
