The Lakewood Park Branch Library will host a fall S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art and math) schedule that takes place on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:30 PM starting on September 6, 2023.
These interactive programs are designed to offer promising benefits for youth, including the opportunity to develop proficiency in key S.T.E.A.M. content, engage in hands-on learning experiences and access informal S.T.E.A.M. education experiences. These programs are free and open to the public. Topics for the first three installations of the program include:
- Wednesday, September 6th at 4:30 PM - Pom-Pom Tower Challenge
- Wednesday, October 4th at 4:30 PM - Catapult Challenge
- Wednesday, November 1st at 4:30 PM - Basket Weaving Challenge
Studies have found youth who participated in S.T.E.A.M. showed significant improvements in problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities and logical reasoning. These cognitive benefits contribute to academic success. Children exposed to S.T.E.A.M programs demonstrated higher levels of creativity, innovation and divergent thinking compared to their peers.
In addition to the S.T.E.A.M. programs, Lakewood Park Branch Library offers valuable resources such as free access to internet services, a vast catalog of books, e-books and audio books and family-friendly programs. Also, if you are interested in an ideal neighborhood location for your student to complete homework after school, discover new interests or enhance reading skills, then the Lakewood Park Branch Library is the perfect location.
