St. Lucie County Libraries Provide Family-Friendly Fun

Libraries are more than just buildings with books, which is why St. Lucie County’s Library system offers programing for the entire family.

Children and family activities for March include:  

  • S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students kindergarten through 5th grade.
    • Lakewood Park Branch – Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 3:30 PM
    • Morningside Branch - Saturday, March 4th at 2:30 PM
    • Hurston Branch - Saturday, March 4th at 2:30 PM

  • Crazy 8’s Math Club at the Kilmer Branch on Thursdays: March 2nd and 9th at 3:30 PM. Join us for Neon City, Super Cube Shuffle and many more fun math activities. Best suited for grades 3-5.

  • Scavenger Hunt - Saturday, March 4th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Can you find all the clues? Drop in and give it a try.

  • Bilingual Storytime - Enjoy a bilingual storytime in both English and Spanish. Most suited for ages 3-5 years. 
    • Thursday, March 9th at 10:30 AM at the Morningside Branch,
    • Friday, March 17th at 10:30 AM at the Lewis Branch.

  • Early Release Extreme S.T.E.A.M.  - Friday, March 10th at 2:00 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join the library staff to make Elephant Toothpaste. All supplies provided.

  • Afternoon Storytime with a Craft - Saturday, March 11th at 2:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy an afternoon story time and make a craft. All materials provided. Best suited for ages 3-6

  • Movie Matinee / Spring Break Movie
    • Marcel: The Shell with Shoes On” (2021) - Saturday, March 11th at 2:30 PM at the Morningside Branch. Marcel is a tiny shell who ekes out a colorful existence with his grandmother, Connie. When an Airbnb guest discovers them, the film he posts online brings Marcel millions of fans and a new hope at finding the rest of his long-lost family. Rated PG with a running time of 90 minutes.

    •  “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile” - Tuesday, March 14th at 10:00 AM at the Kilmer Branch. Based on the children's books by Bernard Waber, this film focuses on a singing crocodile that lives in New York City. The film is rated PG with a running time of 106 minutes

  • Spring Bunny Scavenger Hunt - Tuesday, March 14th from 10:30 AM to noon at the Morningside Branch. Can you find all 15 of our silly spring bunnies hiding around Morningside Library? Visit the children’s desk and pick up your scavenger hunt checklist and return it for an “eggstra” special prize.

  • Special Spring Break S.T.E.A.M. Project - Thursday, March 16th at 10:30 AM at the Lewis Branch. Make your own kaleidoscope. Best suited for students in grades 3-8.

  • Kids Crafternoon - Tuesday, March 21st at 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Designed for students in grades 3-8, families can enjoy an afternoon making Pokemon pendants. All materials supplied.

  • Grab n’ Go Craft projects are available all month long at the Lakewood Park Branch.

Tweens and Teens

  • Introduction to Drawing Anime - Tuesday, March 7th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join library staff for instruction on how to draw anime. All materials supplied. Best suited for ages 11 to 18.

  • Anime Multimedia Club - Thursday, March 9th at 4:30 PM at the Morningside Branch. In this month’s club meeting, get the basics of anime anatomy. Learn the rules of drawing the average person in anime style. This program is best suited for students in grades 6-12.

  • Robotic Creation Station - Tuesday, March 14th at 2:00 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Create your own unique art with robots like Artie, ozobots and more. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 11 - 18.

  • Spring Break Dungeons and Dragons - Wednesday, March 15th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Teams can gather for adventures across fantastical worlds. Best suited for ages 11 – 18.

  • Clay Pot Wind Chimes - Thursday, March 16th at 2:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Spring is in the air and so are our chimes. With only a clay pot and some bells, learn to make a set of spring wind chimes. Supplies provided. This program is best suited for students in grades 6-12.

  • Teen Crafternoon - Thursday, March 16th at 4:30 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Wildflower Seed Sachets: Make your own sachet of wildflowers to leave in a rainstorm to seed your yard. All supplies provided. Best suited for ages 11 - 18.

  • Pokemon Trading Cards Tournament - Saturday, March 18th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join us for a fun Pokemon trading card tournament. Bring your own deck or use a library pack. Supplies limited. Best suited for ages 10 – 18.

  • Pokken on Switch Teen Video Game Tournament - Saturday, March 25th from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Who will be victorious? Best suited for ages 11 – 18.

Weekly Programs

  • Family Storytime on Mondays at the Pruitt Campus Library. Designed for children up to age 5, but all ages are welcome.

  • Just Baby & Me on Tuesdays at the Lewis Library. Songs, stories and movement fun for you and your baby. Best suited for infants up to 1 year

  • Rhythm & Rhyme Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at the Morningside Library. Early literacy through rhymes, stories, movement and more. For ages 2 1/2 years and older.

  • Storytime Jam at 10:30 AM - Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3-5.
    • Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Wednesdays at the Kilmer Branch
    • Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
    • Fridays at the Morningside Branch
    • Fridays at the Lewis Branch

  • Music & Motion for Kids at 10:30 AM - Action songs, movement, singing, instruments and fun for ages under 6 with a caregiver.
    • Wednesdays at the Lewis Branch
    • Fridays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Third Saturday of the month at the Morningside Branch

  • Pre-school Storybook Craft at 10:30 AM - Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories, then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.
    • Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Fridays at the Hurston Branch
