Safely Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste for Free March 11th

March 1, 2023

City of Port St. Lucie is hosting its bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Public Works Facility, 450 SW Thornhill Drive, PSL, and invites residents to participate at the free event. Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful offers the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County residents (ID's required) an environmentally safe way to dispose of hazardous household waste.

The Public Works facility will serve as a convenient drop-off location for residents with household hazardous wastes such as bug sprays, computers/electronics, drain cleaners, fire extinguishers, fluorescent light bulbs/tubes, fuels and more.

Household fats, oils or grease accumulated from cooking, frying, and general food preparation will be accepted in less than 5-gallon containers. Only households may use the service to dispose of hazardous wastes. No commercial, institutional, or agri-business waste will be accepted. Residents do not even need to leave their cars, they simply drive up to the drop-off location, and volunteers will help unload any items for disposal, free of charge.

In March and October, Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful hosts its bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day event, making it suitable for residents to safely dispose of their unwanted household chemicals and hazardous waste. At October’s event in 2022, a total of 16,342 pounds of household hazardous waste was collected from 341 vehicles that participated in the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
