On January 12, 2023, The City of Port St. Lucie and GL Homes broke ground on its newest recreation area, Riverland Paseo Park, the City's first developed park west of Interstate 95. Residents will have a new place to play and enjoy leisure time at the new family-friendly park.
Riverland Paseo Park, opening in the Summer of 2024, will be added to an inventory of over 40 parks operated and maintained by the City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation. The park, 12151 SW Community Blvd., and open to all visitors, will be conveniently located south of Discovery Way on the southwest corner of Community Boulevard and Marshall Parkway. It will be the first City Park developed west of I-95 and is across from the Riverland Arts & Culture Center and next to the newest residential community of Valencia Walk at Riverland.
“Today marks an important milestone for Riverland Paseo Park,” announced GL Homes Division President of St. Lucie County, Ryan Courson. “This beautiful park will enhance the recreational opportunities and quality of life for the surrounding neighborhood. Residents and their families will enjoy Riverland Paseo Park for years to come.”
“This park is proof that public-private partnerships work and can truly benefit all our citizens. The City is grateful to GL Homes for stepping up to the plate and working with us to make this park a reality," said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin.
GL Homes serves as a General Contractor for the project, and Parks & Recreation staff will maintain the park. This public park site, will feature a 2-acre dog park, lighted softball and soccer fields for nighttime play, restrooms, field bleachers and shade structures, and a concession stand.
“We’re excited to see this beautiful park come to fruition,” said Bradley Keen, Parks & Recreation Assistant Director. “Not only will the lighted athletic fields provide ample space for residents of all ages to be active, these new amenities, as well as the dog park, deliver new spaces to connect with the outdoors and neighbors.”
Residents and their furry companions will be happy with the public park's fenced running yards for all-sized dogs near the entrance to the Valencia Walk subdivision. The dog park’s pet-friendly amenities include a dog wash, pet waste disposal stations, climbing boulders and shade structures. The park will allow regular vehicle parking as well as parking for 25 registered golf carts, which are allowed to drive on the Riverland Paseo.
