Bring the Family to ManateeFest at the Manatee Center, 11/19

November is Manatee Awareness Month and it is also the 26th birthday of the Manatee Observation and Education Center's Mascot, Moe. In celebration of Moe's Birthday and Manatee Awareness Month, the Manatee Center is hosting ManateeFest on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and the community is invited to come out and have some fun with them. The day will be filled with exciting, manatee-themed, hand-on activities and demonstrations the whole family is sure to enjoy. Visitors can also share in Moe's Birthday cake! 

The event is appropriate for all ages and admission is FREE.

The Manatee Center is currently closed for remodeling but it is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, November 8th. The Center offers fabulous programs that will resume upon the reopening. Some of the programs most suited for families are highlighted below. Check the Events Calendar on their website for the most up-to-date schedule for these and other programs.

  • ManaTales - Second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AM. Nurture your child’s natural curiosity about nature through this Mommy and Me style program. Each session will focus on a new nature theme and includes a story, craft, and more. Some classes feature live animals! FUN for preschoolers. The second Wednesday of each month is also FREE Admission Day so admission to ManaTales is also FREE
  • Tide Pool Touch Tank - Have you ever held a sea star or met a baby sea cucumber? The Manatee Center's public touch tank demonstration will introduce you to all of the Center's resident invertebrates. 
  • Fin-tastic Fish Feeding - Saturdays at 2:00 PM. Come meet the fin-tastic fishes of the Manatee Center and learn how they swim, eat and live.

Once reopen, the Manatee Center's hours are Tuesdays - Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The last admission is 30 minutes prior to close. Admission is free for members and children ages 5 and under with an adult, and $3 per person for ages 6 and up.
