May 13, 2022

The Humane Society of St. Lucie County is proud to partner with Petco Love to offer 1,000 free pet vaccines to St. Lucie County residents on May 14, 2022. The event will be held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Port St. Lucie Police Department Parking Lot.

We will be providing DAPPv Canine vaccines and HCP Feline vaccines for free to family pets in need. Canine DAPPv protects against canine distemper virus, adenovirus type 1 and 2, canine parainfluenza virus, and canine parvovirus. Feline HCP protects against feline herpes and distemper. We will also be administering rabies vaccines for $10. There will be coffee, food trucks, and more. Port St. Lucie Police K9 Unit will also be attending. It will be a first come, first serve event. Space is limited to 1,000 free vaccines for this event.

Petco Love is taking action to reduce vaccine preventable diseases by allocating one million pet vaccines to shelters and animal welfare partners, like the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, to distribute to community owned pets in need. This unique program is designed to increase the number of vaccinated community pets, not only to improve the lives of owned pets, but to decrease the spread of disease should these pets enter shelters.

We are excited to provide this opportunity to local pet owners so cost does not have to be a factor if your pet will be protected against preventable diseases. Petco Love’s free vaccine campaign has helped over 530,000 pets so far. Fifty percent of participating pet parents surveyed reported their pets had never been vaccinated against these diseases.

Puppy and kitten season is coming up soon and these pets can be exposed to deadly diseases. A simple vaccine can help prevent your pet from contracting some of these diseases, such as parvovirus, distemper and panleukopenia. Puppies and kittens will need to be at least 8 weeks old to receive vaccines. To participate, it will be a first come, first serve event. Space is limited to 1,000 free vaccines for this event. You will need to provide proof of St. Lucie County residency. Dogs must be on a secured leash at all times and cats must be a pet carrier.
