Summer Hunger Auction Opens May 27

Help Treasure Coast Food Bank serve the community’s most vulnerable

May 12, 2022

Summer means hunger for thousands of kids who rely on meals from their school cafeterias, and this year with the cost of food, gas and housing continuing to rise, Treasure Coast Food Bank anticipates more families needing help.

The Summer Hunger Online Auction, which opens May 27, 2022, will support programs for the community’s most vulnerable, including the Summer Meals program that serves thousands of children across the Treasure Coast when school cafeterias are closed.

“Summer is one of the most difficult times of the year for families who struggle to make ends meet,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “We expect to see more families seeking help this year, and our Summer Hunger Auction is a way for the community to support our programs at a time when they’re needed most.”

More than 100 items have been donated for the auction, including theme park passes, entertainment tickets, restaurant gift cards, art and more.

Place a bid on a set of 4 Disney one-day Park Hopper passes, tickets to The Rapids Water Park, or admission to Zoo Miami, Zoo Tampa, or Dinosaur World. If golf is more your theme, there are several opportunities to bid on foursomes for rounds of play at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach, or the Sebastian Municipal Golf Course.

Art lovers will find several pieces available from area artists. Check out piece featuring a yellowtail snapper by Pat Sievers who uses the Japanese art form called Gyotaku to create his fish prints. There’s also an original A.E. Backus certified numbered print titled ‘Dawn’s First Light.’
