Pirates, Mermaids and Seafood, Oh My
Looking for a weekend of fun and excitement? Look no further than the 13th Annual Treasure Coast Pirate and Seafood Festival, Saturday, February 12, 2022 through Sunday, February 13th. Located at Veterans Memorial Park in historic Fort Pierce, this 2-day event has been referred to by many as one of the most historically accurate pirate festivals in and around Florida.
Loaded with colorful rogues, wenches, and scallywags, this family-friendly Pirate and Seafood Festival offers up some of the nation’s finest reenactors who help provide visitors with a true to life pirate encounter. This highly anticipated event is always a favorite among festival goers.
Some seafood festival high points include exploring the Living History Pirate Encampment (a firsthand look at how pirates lived ashore back in the day), and the very popular Pirate Weapon Demonstration with real muskets and cannons lead by none other than Captain Honey Badger.
Visitors to the festival can shop the various pirate, renaissance, nautical themed and arts and craft vendors and enjoy plenty of delicious seafood and tasty cocktails as they listen to pirate songs and shanties while taking in all of the sights and sounds of a 2-day fun-filled event.
Come hungry as there will be plenty of delicious seafood to feast on as well as plenty of landlubber foods. Wash it all down with some refreshing rum cocktails with Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum, the official rum sponsor of this year's Treasure Coast Pirate and Seafood Festival.
Get your cameras ready for pictures with pirates, pirate ships, parrots, and be on the lookout for beautiful mermaids.
There’s plenty for the younger pirates as well like guided treasure hunts, the Quest Game, which is an interactive hunt for wanted pirates brought to you by the Royal Chessmen, and the very popular Little Buccaneer Kid’s Zone, with pay per play bounce houses and more. In addition, for a small boarding fee, young pirates can have the times of their lives seeking adventure on the Pirate Ship Avenger, a nearly 40 foot long replica pirate ship that has 5 amazing interactive decks for kids to explore.
The music lineup includes Rusty Cutlass, who perform popular shanties and songs of the sea, BAM The Bard and Minstrel, who will provide comedy, music, and lighthearted debauchery and Keith Anthony Barbie, whose steel drums bring a tropical feel to the pirate fest with songs you know by heart. Check schedule for stage times.
Inside the Riverwalk Center you can purchase Maritime Art of the late, nationally acclaimed artist, Steve Witucki, meet world renowned Treasure Hunter "Captain Fizz" Carl Fismer, and author Patrick S. Mesmer. Event T-Shirts and pirate themed merchandise will also be available for sale.
The Scarlet Fortuna will be featuring their pirate themed Mobile Book Tent, where inside the only treasures are books, books and more books to share! Bring your children by to receive a book free of charge (while supplies last), or donate a new or gently used children's book, or even swap them. Help these pirates promote literature one ‘R’ at a time!
You may also want to visit the Pirate School, better known as the Pirate University, where both young and old can learn from the Governess, how to become a proper pirate.
Festival admission is free, though a $2.00 “Buck -N- Ear” voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated. That be two dollars for ye landlubbers!
