Arc of St. Lucie County is holding their 2021 Gene Lofton Walkathon on September 25, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lawnwood Stadium in Ft. Pierce. The organization is looking for sponsors and teams. All funds raised during the event will benefit the disabled people in St. Lucie County, and sponsorships are tax deductible.
The walkathon is close to the hearts of many in the Arc organization, as it honors a man named Gene Lofton, who spent many years raising awareness and funds for Arc of St. Lucie County. Gene Lofton was not just a man who raised money for Arc, but one who himself had a disability. He recognized that despite his disability and the difficult times he faced, he could be a hero to those less fortunate.
The event is only $20 for individual walkers. Children under 10 years old walk free! The bigger, the better, which is why groups of five or more receive $10 off! Awards will be given for the top individual fundraiser, the top team, and best superhero costume! There will also be raffles and other great prizes at the event.
“Your critically needed support provides an opportunity for all of us to make a big difference in people’s lives,” stated Arc Director, Charles Shafer. “Please join us September 25th for our Walkathon. You’ll have a great time and support a great cause!”
Lawnwood Stadium is located at 1302 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce 34982.
