Monthly Calendar Listings of Programs and Events

Will Replace Parks & Recreation "Leisure Time" Magazine

Port St. Lucie residents will soon have two new ways to stay up-to-date on what's happening at the City Port St. Lucie's Parks & Recreation Department: a monthly calendar listing as well as a new annual publication titled “Inside the Outdoors.”

These new publications will replace the bi-annual program magazine "Leisure Time," which was distributed throughout City facilities, online and as a newspaper insert in TC Palm for several years but was expensive to create.

“This change in our marketing protocol will reap benefits for our residents, as they’ll have more timely program and event information available to them. Moreover, our departmental offerings will be in the hands (and before the eyes) of our customers much more frequently,” stated Sherman Conrad, Director City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department.

Many parks and recreation agencies, nationally and across the state, are moving in this direction and are relying more on digital channels for communicating the programs and events offered. In the National Recreation & Park Association’s (NRPA’s) Marketing and Communications Report, release in early 2020, it was cited: “In recent years, 12% of agencies have stopped printing program catalogs while 18% of agencies have reduced the frequency of catalog publication.”

The department now produces an annual publication, entitled “Inside the Outdoors,” which is a general overview of the department and its services. This guide is available within all City facilities and online, for residents to review. Included in the annual program guide is an “A-Z” listing of programs and events offered throughout the ensuing year.

Each month, residents can find a monthly calendar that lists reoccurring programs and special events occurring at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, MIDFLORIDA Event Center, and Minsky Gym. These can be found in all City facilities, as well as online at www.PSLParks.com.

“While we recognize that our guest have many options from which to choose to pursue their leisure opportunities, the fact that we’re more often sharing all that we do with them will aid toward better serving our community, said Conrad.
