Help Needed to Bring New Child Advocacy Center to the Treasure Coast

September 25, 2020

GUARDIANS FOR NEW FUTURES is a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that supports the unfunded needs of maltreated and underserved youth, while increasing community awareness and education to further protect children.

The Treasure Coast is the only judicial circuit in the state of Florida that does not have a Child Advocacy Center for abused and neglected children and Debbie Butler, President of Guardians for New Futures and her Board Members, are determined to change that.

A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a community-based, child-friendly, multidisciplinary resource center for children and families who have been affected by sexual abuse or severe physical abuse. This one location provides all needed resources for the child - everything from the initial forensic interview, physical exam to mental health resources and more. Plus, the child only needs to tell their story one time.

Currently when children come into care the initial interview is in a law enforcement setting. From there they may need to visit up to 8 different locations to tell their story and receive services. Having one location to serve all the needs of the children will help to reduce the trauma already experienced and begin to help heal the child more quickly.

Just last year there were 3,000 allegation of child maltreatment and an average of 35 children removed from their homes monthly due to abuse.

Please join us in supporting GFNF in bringing this much needed Child Advocacy Center to the Treasure Coast. GFNF is asking the Community to open their hearts and donate any amount so they can procure the funding they need to get the CAC serving children in early 2021.
