Unique, New Playground at PSL Community Center
Now Available for Children to Enjoy
The City of Port St. Lucie's Parks & Recreation Department has replaced the playground equipment at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. The new playground features fairytale themes from The Ugly Duckling and the Little Mermaid, and available QR-codes give free access to an entire fairytale world, complete with e-books and educational games in 16 languages. This playground allows children to exercise both their minds and bodies. The fairytale manipulatives inspire dramatic play while also help develop logical thinking skills. These elements also can be worked from both sides of the panels, spurring social interaction and adding play capacity. The wide variety of climbing, sliding, jumping activities train basic motor skills important for navigating the world securely. The accessible stairway provides easy access. The unique Freenotes Flowers are a collection of four flowers each with a different size, height and color. Each plays 4 different, long sustaining notes, which sound like soft, sweet gongs. These flowers are also sculptural -- they can be enjoyed as soon as they are seen, but will enchant with their tones for additional delight.
While playgrounds can offer significant and important health benefits, it is critical that everyone follows the steps below to protect our community from COVID-19:
- All playgrounds have limited access to 10 people or fewer
- Stay at least 6 feet away from others (“social distancing”)
- If one playground is crowded, explore a new playground; there are 20 in the City
- Continue to follow good hygiene practices and have kids avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth
The City of Port St. Lucie welcomes the community to enjoy this new, state-of-the-art playground, which is now opened daily from 8:00 AM until sunset.
The Port St. Lucie Community Center is located at 2195 SE Airoso Boulevard in PSL, 34984.
