March 13, 2020

Mr. Met’s favorite vacation spot is St. Lucie, so naturally, Mr. Met is escaping the northeast cold and appearing as a special guest at the New York Mets spring training game on Monday, March 16 at 6:10 p.m. against the Houston Astros. The day will be deemed “Visit St. Lucie Day at Clover Park featuring Mr. Met” and fans won’t want to miss this special event.

This will be the most memorable visit for Mr. Met, as he makes his first-ever appearance at a spring training game in Port St. Lucie. His grand entrance won’t hold back any surprises, especially with a unique escort provided on special Navy equipment from the one-and-only National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in the world (www.navysealmuseum.org), located just up the road in Fort Pierce. Not only will Mr. Met be at the game to cheer on his favorite team, but fans will also have the opportunity to meet him and pose for photos. As a bonus, the first 500 fans under the age of 15 will receive a special gift upon entry courtesy of Visit St. Lucie, the official destination marketing organization for St. Lucie County.

The newly renovated Clover Park, the Spring Training facility for the New York Mets, gives fans a completely new experience. With vibrant oversized graphics of players from the past and present along the exterior walls of the stadium, to the big red apple on the front of the stadium paying homage to Shea Stadium in New York, fans will be impressed with the improvements. Most notably, the first thing fans may notice is the fencing around the practice fields no longer have screens on them, so fans can get a closer glimpse of the action. The extended deck by the new Jim Beam Bar in left field overlooks the pitcher’s mounds and half field giving fans a bird’s eye view of the back fields. Fans now have the opportunity to watch the pitchers throw bullpen sessions. Additionally, the half field allows fans to feel like they are right next to the players, because they are.
