SLC Libraries Encourage Parents to Read 1,000 Books to their Children

March 13, 2020

The St. Lucie County Library System is challenging families and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. Reading aloud to children from birth helps strengthen language skills and build vocabulary: Two important tools for learning to read.

In an effort to make this challenge easy to track – the parents can register online at https://stlucieco.beanstack.org.

To track your reading, each time you read a book with your child, log it on your Beanstack reading log. You’ll earn digital badges along the way and a certificate of achievement upon completion.
