The Zora Neale Hurston Branch Library continues offering fun, educational activities for the family this February, featuring everything from making zines to celebrating Harry Potter.
Family activities for February include:
- Storytime Jam on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM, for ages 3 to 5, clap, dance and listen to stories.
- The new After School Adventures takes place on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 3:30 PM and includes story time, crafts and all around fun. Most suited for grades K through 5.
- Explore and celebrate the books of Harry Potter with music, trivia and games on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Participate in the Triwizard Tournament and come dressed as your favorite Harry Potter character.
- The Zine Scene returns Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM. A zine (pronounced zeen) is a self-published booklet created by cutting and gluing art, images and text onto a master for photocopying. Express your creativity, interests and individuality. This program is best suited for students in 8th grade and up. No experience is necessary, but if you are a zine maker please join us and share your work. Those who complete their zine can donate it to be displayed at the library.
- The Movie Matinee presents “The Addams Family” on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Featuring the voices of Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron, this animated remake of the classic TV family tells the story of a shady TV personality, who realizes that the Addams' mansion stands in the way of her dream of selling all the neighborhood houses. The movie is rated PG with a running time of 86 minutes.
