Discover a Whole New World at Morningside Library Feb. 8

Discover a “whole new world” as Morningside Branch Library presents Disney’s “Aladdin” on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. as part of its Movie Matinee.

This live-action remake, featuring Will Smith and Naomi Scott, retells the story of a kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier who vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true. The movie is rated PG with a running time of 128 minutes.

Additional family activities for the month include:

  • Rhythm and Rhyme Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Through rhymes, stories, movement and more this early literacy program is geared for children ages 2.5 years and older.

  • Storytime Jam takes place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Designed for ages 3 to 5, students can clap, dance and listen to stories as they learn literacy and socialization skills.

  • S.T.E.A.M. Power! provides fun, hands-on creative activities including games, projects, experiments and more on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.

  • Legos for Kids on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. Suited for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Students can play, build and learn with Legos.

  • Join the library for card games, board games and more on early release day at Game Day on Feb. 19 at 3 p.m.  This program is best suited for kids in grades 6 and up.

  • Strum some strings with Beginner Ukulele for Kids on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. A number of ukuleles are available for use and check out, but feel free to bring your own. No registration is required, but space is limited.

  • Bilingual Storytime on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy stories and music in this bilingual story time presented in Spanish and English.
