Oxbow Eco-Center Invites Youth to Join in Winter Programs

The Oxbow Eco-Center kicks off the New Year with a variety of youth programs including field trips, evening eco-adventures, storytime and LEGO robotics. The Oxbow’s skilled education staff creates programs that combine unforgettable fun with learning; be sure to register early for these popular programs as space is limited.

  • Camp Riverlution participants discover adventure in the world of aquatic ecosystems. These one-day camps are filled with unique hands-on activities, eco-games and field trips to local wetlands, rivers and estuaries. Designed for ages 10-14, sessions take place 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on January 20, 2020, February 17th and March 23rd. Dates coincide with St. Lucie County public school holidays; private school and home school students are welcome. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $30 per child per session or $75 for all three sessions.

  • LEGO Eco-Adventure Nights give parents the evening off while the kids have fun. LEGO nights take place January 25th, February 29th, March 28th, and May 2nd from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Bringing together hands-on technology and the environment, participants are introduced to the most ingenious engineer of all time: Mother Nature. Activities include a sunset hike, live animal ambassadors, pizza and snack, making Eco-Adventure Nights extraordinary for young nature lovers. These evening programs are designed for ages 6 – 10, pre-registration is required. Cost per session is $30 a child and $20 for each additional sibling.

  • Homeschool Hopper is an engaging science series hosted by various local environmental organizations. Along with the theme, “Discovering the Native Wildlife of the Treasure Coast,” students explore natural areas and preserves to learn about the unique life histories of locally significant animals. Sessions take place Fridays, January 10th through February 28th from 10:00 AM to noon.  Pre-registration is required by calling Savannas Preserve State Park at 772- 398-2779.  Designed for ages 10-14, cost is $45 per student for the eight-part series.

  • Tuesday Tales for Tots is a fun, spirited story time program for ages 5 and younger. Wee ones will enjoy nature stories, finger plays and outdoor play during this new monthly series. Tuesday Tales for Tots takes place at the Oxbow Eco-Center at 10:00 AM on January 28th, February 25th, March 31st and April 28th. Programs are free, but guardians must be present.
