More schools to receive Buddy Benches on America Recycles Day, 11/15

November 7, 2019

Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful is kicking off America Recycles Day, Friday, November 15, 2019, with four schools receiving their Buddy Benches in a special ribbon cutting ceremony.

The schools all started collecting caps last Spring and throughout the summer to attain their 200-pound per bench goals. The four schools listed below collected a total of 807.3 pounds of caps!

Each school needs to collect 200 pounds of caps to create one bench. Once collected, KPSLB sends the caps to Green Tree Plastics, based in Evansville, IN, who have created a program designed to fabricate the benches to help educate students about recycling. Community members are invited and encouraged to help the students reach their goal of 200 pounds of caps.

KPSLB will then work with the five schools who have signed up to participate for 2019-2020: St. Lucie West K-8, Rivers Edge Elementary, Savanna Ridge, PACE Center for Girls, and Northport K-8. Any local business or community group that would like to help one of these local schools attain their Buddy Bench by sponsoring a bench can contact Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful at 772-871-5103.
