Get Ready for a Shell of a Good Time at The Oyster Fest

March 27, 2019

The 8th Annual Fort Pierce Oyster Fest returns to Veteran's Memorial Park and River Walk Center on April 6th and 7th, 2019.

The Fort Pierce Oyster and Sea Fest celebrates the Fort Pierce Waterfront and all of its bounty with delicious oysters, tasty seafood dishes, comfort foods, a great lineup of entertainment and a nice assortment of arts and crafts and nautical themed vendors and exhibits to shop and explore.

New this year is the expansion of the festival’s dining area which now includes a huge Outdoor Lounge and Raw Bar with frozen drinks and other tasty libations.

Festival Organizers say, that in addition to chefs preparing and serving up a large selection of Oyster dishes near the north end of the festival, there will also be plenty of other delicious seafood and other landlubber delights by the main stage.

The Oyster Fest bars will be serving up your choice of Oyster Shooters made with select brands of Vodka or Local Beer.

Returning this year, is the marine education exhibit from the Florida Oceanographic Society on Saturday. While at the festival, kids of all ages will also have the opportunity to meet a real mermaid.

Music will include everything from rock, country and reggae to blues. Guests will hear a mix of Rock, Reggae and Funk from Making Faces, the Island and Caribbean sounds of Bamboo, classic and southern rock from Jupiter Trailer Trash and energizing Reggae from the band Sweet Justice on the main stage. Four wonderfully amazing solo acts, Davee Bryan, George E. Manosis, Karen House and Keith Anthony Barbrie will be performing favorite songs from many different genres.  Be sure to visit the festival’s web site for a schedule of performance times.

The Oyster Festival has been dedicated to saving its shells and is on track to have contributed more than 25 tons of these shells to the Oyster Reef Restoration Projects in St. Lucie County which in turn uses them in the Indian River Lagoon including the spoil islands near the Fort Pierce City Marina.

During preparation, a team of Oyster Shuckers separate and drop the top half of the oyster shell into collection bins. Event guests eating these oysters are asked to save the bottom half of their shells by placing them into 5 gallon pails that are located next to many of the trash receptacles throughout the festival.

In addition to our appreciation of the folks at the S.H.I.P Organization, a portion of the festival’s oyster shooter proceeds will also benefit the Sea-Life Habitat Improvement Project.

The festival is expected to bring over 15,000 attendees this year. Opportunities are still available for sponsors, vendors, oyster shuckers and volunteers.
