St. Lucie County Libraries Announce Summer Reading Challenge

Take Part in the Summer Reading Challenge at a St. Lucie County Branch Library

May 22, 2015
The St. Lucie County Library System is excited to announce its 2015 Summer Reading Challenge, running June 6, 2015 through August 8, 2015.

The challenge this summer is for every child (K- 6th grade) in St. Lucie County to read at least eight books or for eight hours. All children who participate in the challenge will win free books, and all children who complete the challenge will win a special Reader’s Medal. Every child who completes the challenge will be eligible for the Library’s grand prize drawing to be held on Aug. 12th.

The St. Lucie County Library System will also be running a Teen Read Challenge. Teens (age 12-17) will be required to read eight books and provide a brief review about each title in a book-log. Upon submission of their reviews, teens will be entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire.

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is greatly enhanced by the generosity of the Friends of the St. Lucie County Library Association and its desire to promote literacy.

In addition to the reading challenge, the Library will be hosting a variety of weekly programs throughout the summer. Reading logs and program information can be found on the St. Lucie County Library System homepage http://library.stlucieco.gov or at any Library location.

Anyone interested in learning more about this program should call their favorite Library Branch or contact Mark Freed at 772-462-1618 or freedm@stlucieco.org

The St. Lucie County Library System is a division of the Community Services Department and features five branch libraries and a joint-use facility with Indian River State College located in St. Lucie West.
