Lincoln Park Academy baseball player Christian Medina was killed in a car accident on his way to school in 2013. Due to being a registered organ donor, he saved many lives.
St. Lucie County Tax Collector Chris Craft and Donate Life Florida will join Medina’s family to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Christian’s Tree of Life. Since the tree was first displayed on the Fort Pierce office’s wall, the St. Lucie County driver license organ donor designation rate has risen to 52 percent – one of the best in the state.
In remembrance of Medina, the tax collector’s office will host a weeklong commemoration event, starting Monday, February 9 and ending Friday, February 13. The one-year anniversary of Christian’s Tree of Life is Thursday, February 12 at the St. Lucie County Tax Collector’s Office, located at 2300 Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce.
“Christian’s Tree of Life has shown a light on the need for organ donors,” Craft said. “Our goal is that Christian’s story, as well as others, will drive the county’s driver license organ donor designation rate to continue to rise.”
