Come join Main Street Fort Pierce as we celebrate Latin Heritage Month at the September Friday Fest. Come listen to the sounds of the La Nueva Herencia Latina Heritage Orchestra and watch the dancers of Ballet Folklorico Guadalajara.

The La Nueva Herencia Latina Orchestra has it’s roots in New York City. The band was formed by Ray Rodriguez in 1981 and later turned over to Luis Rosa and Julio Santoiemma where the band was taken to a new level of entertainment. The Herencia has the reputation of playing the best salsa, merengue, cumbia, boleros and swing. They are also known to play bachatas. Throughout the years the band has tried to bring the best quality performances to the Treasure Coast with all the best of the Latin rhythms that are loved by their listeners and followers. The band will play 2 sets at Friday Fest at 6:45 to 7:30 pm and 8:15 to 9:00 pm.

The Ballet Folklorico Guadalajara is made up of children and youth in the community between the ages of 5-20 years. All of the children were born here but are of Mexican descent attending different schools and colleges on the Treasure Coast. The Ballet Folklorico Guadalajara is very active throughout the year, participating in schools, churches and other cultural events. They are always proud to represent the culture of their parents through dance, performing with great enthusiasm in all of their presentations.

The typical Mexican dances are varied, depending on the region. The Guadalajara Ballet includes dances from the Northern region; the dancers are similar to the polka, chotiss, sones Veracruzanos and Jalicienses. The girls are dressed in brightly colored dresses with wide ruffles, colored ribbons, braids with big bows, and boots or wide heel shoes. The males are dressed with their charro outfits and hat that marked his unique personality and his boots mark the steps. The unique dress of the dancers and the rhythm of the music, make for a beautiful dance filled with grace and their enthusiasm that is projected in each dance.

Ballet Folkorico Guadalajara will perform 2 shows at 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm in front of the St. Lucie County Library on Melody Lane.
