Follow St. Lucie County Libraries for Family Fun this April

April 1, 2024 - Whether your child is interested in crafts, games or technology, St. Lucie County libraries offer a wealth of programs designed to stimulate literacy and socialization.

Children and family activities for April include:  

  • S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
    • Lakewood Park Branch on Wednesday, April 3rd at 4:30 PM
    • Hurston Branch on Saturday, April 5th at 3:00 PM
    • Morningside Branch on Saturday, April 13th at 2:30PM

  • Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, April 6th between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Stop by during regular hours and see if you can find all the clues.

  • Movie Matinee: “Wish” (2023) on Saturday, April 6th at 2:30 PM at the Morningside Branch. After making a wish on a starry night, a young woman is surprised when a ball of cosmic energy comes down to accompany her as they work together to defeat a ruthless ruler. This Disney animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 90 minutes.

  • Kids Crafternoon on Tuesday, April 9th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy an afternoon of crafts. All materials supplied. Best suited for kids in grades 3rd through 8th.

  • Movie Matinee: “Wonka” (2023) on Wednesday, April 17th at 2:00 PM at the Kilmer Branch. A young Willy Wonka is chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time to prove that anything is possible. This feature film is rated PG with a running time of 117 minutes.

  • Game Day on Wednesday, April 17th at 4:30 PM at the Lakewood Park Branch. Bring a few friends, a love for games and join us for some good old-fashioned board game fun. Some supplies provided or bring your favorites.

  • LEGO Fun at the Library on Thursday, April 18th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy building and creating with LEGO bricks. Best suited for elementary age students.

  • Bi-lingual Storytime on Friday, April 19th, 10:30 AM at the Lewis Branch. Enjoy a bi-lingual story time in both English and Spanish. Best suited for ages 3rd through 5th.

  • Project Green Presentation on Friday, April 19th from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lewis Branch Library. Join students from Project Green at Treasure Coast High School and learn ways to be more eco-friendly in the community. Best suited for families with elementary age kids.

  • I Love to Read Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, April 20th from 10:30 AM to noon at Morningside Branch. Can you find all the book-themed pictures hidden throughout the children’s department? Stop by and grab a card and give it a try to earn a prize.

  • Kids Crafternoon on Wednesday, April 24th at 4:30 PM at Lakewood Park Branch. Join us in creating handmade journals. All supplies provided. Best suited for students ages 10 and older.

  • Family Game Night on Thursday, April 25th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join us for some good old board game fun. This is a family event for parents and children. Bring your own game or use ours.

Teens and Teens

  • Teen Board Games Galore on Thursdays, April 4th from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Join us for some good old board game fun. Best suited for ages 11-18. Bring your own board game or use some of ours.

  • Dungeons & Dragons on Thursday, April 11th & 25th from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Players gather for adventures across fantastical worlds. Best suited for ages 11-18.

  • Teen/Tween Crafternoon on Tuesday, April 16th at 4:15 PM. Visit us at the Morningside Branch on the third Tuesday of the month for a fun afternoon of crafting at the library. A variety of new supplies will be provided along with several project ideas. You can follow along with a new craft or work on your own project. Get your creative juices flowing and enjoy a Tuesday crafternoon with us.

  • Teen Crafternoon on Thursday, April 18th from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Lewis Branch. Make your own terrarium. Best suited for ages 11-18. All materials supplied.

  • Teen Tech Time on Saturday, April 20th at 3 PM at the Hurston Branch. Teens are invited to come explore technology with fun gadgets and games. Suited for grades 6 and up.


Weekly Programs

  • Family Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 AM at the Pruitt Campus Library. Designed for children up to age 5 years, but all ages are welcome. NOTE: No storytime on April 1st.

  • Just Baby & Me on Tuesdays (two sessions) at 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM at the Lewis Branch. Songs, stories and movement fun for you and your baby. Best suited for infants up to 1 year.

  • Tales & Play on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at the Morningside Branch. Children up to age 5 and their caregivers are invited to story time. Afterward, all are welcome to stay for some open playtime.

  • Music & Motion for Kids - Action songs, movement, singing and fun. For children younger than 6 with a caregiver.
    • Tuesday (2nd & 4th of the month) at 9:00 AM at the Port St. Lucie Branch
    • Wednesdays - two sessions: 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM at the Lewis Branch
    • Fridays at 10:30 AM the Lakewood Park & Morningside Branches

  • Storytime Jam at 10:30 AM. Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3-5.
    • Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Wednesdays at Kilmer Branch
    • Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
    • Fridays at the Lewis Branch

  • Pre-school Storybook Craft at 10:30 AM. Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to listen to stories and then join their parents and caregivers for a related craft.
    • Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
    • Fridays at the Hurston Branch
