FL Forest Service to perform Live Demonstration at SLC Safety Festival

The Florida Forest Service plans to demonstrate how they use their bulldozers and brush trucks to fight wildfires at the SLC Safety Festival, Saturday, April 29, 2017. They will also have Smokey Bear show how to build a camp fire the correct way to keep the area and campers safe.

The 3rd Annual SLC Safety Festival will be held at First Data Field (Home of the Mets) from 9:00am – 2:30pm. Other demonstrations will come from the SLC Sheriff, Fire District, PSL Police and Florida State Fire Marshall. The event will also include touch-a-truck, displays, food court, SL Reading Program, vendors, a kid’s zone with Free bounce houses and giveaways.

Participating agencies include the St. Lucie County Fire District, SLC Sheriff, Port St. Lucie Police, SL Public Schools, Public Safety, Emergency Management, Marine Safety, Safer St. Lucie, Zika-Mosquito Safety, 911, Lifeguards, Hurricane Preparedness, Martin Health, Fish and Wildlife, Highway Patrol, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Department of Health, US Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Red Cross, Blood One, Toyota Center of Stuart, Seacoast Bank, National Hurricane Center, Nuclear Power Plant Alert, Animal Control, Tobacco Free Florida, SL Kids Safety Coalition, Air Rescue and more.

Air Rescue (helicopter), armored personnel carriers, fire trucks, patrol cars, motorcycles, mobile command unit and more will be on display. Free safety information will be available on hurricane, fire, marine, pedestrian, household safety and more. The kid’s zone will feature FREE bounce houses, games, petting zone. There will be food/drink, vendors and a Mets baseball game at 6:30pm. Find out how to keep your family safe from the people who know.
