Memorial Day Ceremony Set for May 25th at Veterans Memorial Park

May 22, 2015
The Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department will host the city’s annual Memorial Day ceremony at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 25, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Park.

The ceremony is held each year to support U.S. military troops and to honor those who lost their lives defending American freedom.

Mayor Greg Oravec and the Port St. Lucie City Council invite all residents to be a part of the solemn ceremony as representatives from local veterans’ groups and various guests-of-honor present a tribute to those who sacrificed for this nation. Also, the Port St. Lucie Community Band will perform American music.

Seating is limited, so early arrival is recommended and lawn chairs are welcome.

Veterans Memorial Park is located at 2100 S.E. Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The City of Port St. Lucie is also proud to be part of “Victory Florida,” which honors and celebrates the heroes and heroines of World War II while highlighting the important role Florida played in training for the battlefield, and on the home front, during the war.

The Victory Florida website lists WWII memorials and events across Florida, including Port St. Lucie’s Veterans Memorial Park and the annual Memorial Day ceremony.

The Florida Department of State is drawing attention to the 70-year anniversary of V-Day, or Victory Day, which marked the end of World War II in 1945. The City of Port St. Lucie is honored to be part of the Victory Florida campaign to bring awareness to this important anniversary. For more information, visit their website at www.vivaflorida.org/victory.
