SPACE ... Outta This World!

Miles from Tomorrowland Preview Party Review

By Janet Landwehr, Assistant Editor January 30, 2015
“Every family needs a little...SPACE!” This is just what the families who attended the Macaroni Kid Miles from Tomorrowland Preview Party on Saturday, January 24th got a lot of...SPACE. The party was hosted at Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce and as the party attendees entered, they gave their feet a little SPACE by walking on BUBBLE WRAP. It was fun to see the little guests popping bubbles, but it was even more fun to watch their adults walk in on it, too.

Upon entering the church atrium, each “little” guest was greeted with a name tag and their own special MILES lanyard to keep. They were then offered 5 different SPACE activity centers and as the young guests and their grownups rotated around the “sun” snack table, they could:
  • Make a SPACE helmet supplied by Disney;
  • Invent their own Rocket Ship using a small cup, foil, ribbon “fire”, tie-dyed pom poms, stickers;
  • Model white air dry clay into their own SPACE play along with SPACE figurines;
  • Assemble a flying Comet using a small ball, precut plastic, and ribbon; or
  • Attach foam planet stickers on black foam for their own SPACE sky.

After our guests rotated around the centers they enjoyed the SPACE snacks provided: Little Debbie Cloud Cakes, Chex Mix White Cheddar Popped Trail Mix, Kellog’s New Froot Loop Bloopers Cereal, Ritz Crackers with Squeeze-It Cheese and Little Hug Fruit Barrels to drink.

Between activities and snack time, casual photos were taken. Each SPACE cadet was able to pose at the MILES OF TOMORROWLAND Photo Wall of SPACE featuring Miles and his best friend, Merc, a robo-ostrich.

The church offered a very large screen to view our MILES OF TOMORROWLAND episode in their auditorium. Everyone got a great seat to view the 11 minute episode.

There were nine families in attendance with 15 adults and 12 kids. The ages ranged from 2-7 with an equal amount of children in each age group. Each little guest left the party with their SPACE ID Badge and lanyard as well as with a special treat bag that included a Cloud Cake, 1 small package of white air dry clay, Miles Activity Booklet, SPACEship Craft and 3D Trading Card Set.

Before leaving the auditorium, each family was reminded again of the Premiere of Miles from Tomorrowland on Friday, February 6th at our local time of 9:00 a.m. on the Disney Channel. Guests were excited to be able to watch a longer version of the show at that time!

At the conclusion of the party, grownup guests were given their young-one's photo op pic, a link to the Facebook Album and a MILES FROM TOMORROWLAND Survey. Everyone left saying they had such a great time and that the party was very well organized. They all said they wanted to know when the next party was and could they please be invited!

Personally, I felt the party and preview went very well. I love planning parties, so this one was no exception. I thought the crowd moved around each activity center appropriately and everyone had time to enjoy their snacks before we entered to watch the Miles from Tomorrowland Preview. The length of the preview was 11 minutes long and as I looked around the room every eye was peeled to the screen. It kept everyone’s attention (adult and child). I specifically asked if the show was too old for our younger (2 year old) guests and their adults all said the same thing, “My child really liked the show!” I think Disney did a fantastic job supplying us with information and guest take-aways!

A special thank you to the Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce for letting us use their space to host the party and to Disney Junior for the DVD and promotional materials.

Macaroni Kid Port St Lucie was sent a DVD of the Premiere Episode to preview at our party as well as promotional materials and monetary compensation for the purpose of the review from Disney Junior; however, the thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
