The Neighborhood Postcard Project is a global mission that fosters connections by allowing residents to share positive stories about their community on a postcard. The postcards are then delivered to random people in the community to help instill community pride.
The Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County has developed a version of the Neighborhood Postcard project geared towards our youngest residents. As part of the initiative, children can design postcards at community events depicting what they love about living in our community. The postcards will then be mailed to random addresses throughout St. Lucie County to foster good will in our community.
“We want to make sure that everyone in our community knows all of the wonderful things we have to be thankful for,” said Executive Director, Sean Boyle, “and we can use these postcards to spread that message.”
Recently, the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County has attended the Boys & Girls Club’s Day for Kids and the Indian River Lagoon Science Festival with the postcard project. “We’ve seen the postcard project serve as a great conversation starter between parents and their kids about what community means and what is important to them,” said Boyle. “That is exactly what we wanted it to do.” Postcards collected at those events will soon be mailed to local residents.
The Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County improves the lives of more than 30,000 children and families in our community by funding and partnering with quality agencies that ensure that every baby born is a healthy baby, stop child abuse before it happens, keep kids off the streets, keep them in school, and keep them away from drugs and alcohol.
