The Muppets Add To Entertainment At Morningside Library In September

The Morningside Branch Library announces its children’s programs for September offering educational entertainment for the whole family.

Parents and children can enjoy weekly storytime programs in the children’s room with music, books, creative movement and more:
  • Wednesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 at 10:30 a.m. – Shake, Rattle & Read (ages 1-3)
  • Thursdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 at 10:30 a.m. – Pre-K Fun (ages 3-5)
  • Saturdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27 at 10:30 a.m. – Saturday Stories & More (ages 1-6)
Parents are also reminded to bring their children to Game Day on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 1 – 4 p.m. in Room 105 as the library offers a chance to play on two Nintendo Wii systems, as well as traditional board games, card games and floor games.

“The Muppets Most Wanted” (2014) makes its way to the Movie Matinee on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. Actors Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey join classic Muppet characters including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Animal as the group finds itself wrapped up in a European jewelry heist led by a Kermit look-a-like.  The movie is rated PG with a running time of 113 minutes.  Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket and are welcomed to bring their own snacks and drinks.

The library continues its monthly program: Legos at the Library on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (the third Saturday of each month), allowing children the chance to build, learn and play with tons of Legos.

Don’t miss two new programs: Friday Finger Painting and Crafts for Kids.  Held on the second Friday (Sept. 12) at 10:30 a.m., Friday Finger Painting is a monthly event designed to allow your children to explore color and shapes using finger paints. Most suited for ages 2 to 5, materials will be supplied. Children are encouraged to wear old clothes or smocks/aprons. The Crafts for Kids program is being unveiled Saturday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. Suited for ages 5 to 10, this free monthly program provides your child with all the necessary supplies to be creative and artistic.
