Festival Italiano Coming to Fort Pierce Marina February 21st - 23rd

By 5th Annual Festival Italiano to Showcase Italian-American Culture January 31, 2014

January 31, 2014 - The 5th Annual Festival Italiano celebration of Italian-American culture, food and music this year will move from Port St. Lucie to the beautiful Marina in Fort Pierce and will be held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday February 21st, 22nd, & 23rd along Melody Lane, Orange Avenue and Avenue A.

The Festival Italiano will run on Friday, 2/21, from 5 to 10 pm, on Saturday 2/22, from 3 to 10 pm and on Sunday, 2/23, from Noon to 7 pm. Admission and parking is free. The Festival Italiano has received the blessing from the City of Fort Pierce, the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County.

There will be live music with the very best of Italian-American entertainers, prize drawings, a Pizza Eating Contest, and other activities. Children can help break open the “pignata,” — that’s the Italian version of a “piñata” — and a Kids Zone will feature a variety of games and several bounce houses (a small fee applies for this area).

The San Gennaro Festival Society of Port St. Lucie is sponsoring the event, and they offer a special invitation to “Nonna and Nonno” (Grandma and Grandpa) to be part of the fun. Food vendors will offer Italian specialties, and arts and craft vendors will present a variety of fun creations.

Part of the proceeds will benefit a local project called Discovery Dream Center, a structure that will help the entire Treasure Coast for years to come.

Also, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and other charitable organizations will be available for those who want to make donations to worthy causes, and the Treasure Coast Food Bank will accept non-perishable foods and canned goods in their effort to fight hunger in the community.
