Personal Defense Program for Women Starting 9/24

St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara Announces R.A.D. Program for Women - Advance Registration Required

September 6, 2013
R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) is an empowering program that affords women an opportunity to enhance personal defense.

The goal of the program is to develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked. R.A.D. is taught by St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies who are certified R.A.D. instructors. Minimum age for this program is 13 years. Minors must be accompanied by a female adult relative.

Classes will be at the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, 4700 W. Midway Road, Fort Pierce. Classes will meet in the Roll Call Room.

Course fee is $40 per person, and $20 for each additional family member.

The registration cutoff for this course is usually the morning of the class; however, as this is the last class for 2013, and has limited availability (16 seats), it is anticipated it will fill quickly. The SLC Sheriff's Office is asking anyone interested in registering to call in advance (prior to the first evening of class) and inquire on remaining open seats.  If the class fills and enough people express interest, the Sheriff's Office will host another class in the spring of 2014 and priority registration will be given to anyone not getting a seat in this class.

To obtain a registration form, please visit stluciesheriff.com/rad_women; or contact Deputy Tina Speicker 772-579-6582, or Deb McKenna at 772-462-3604. Registration forms and fees may be delivered to St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, 4700 W. Midway Road, Fort Pierce.

Please Note: The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office has a NO REFUND policy for its R.A.D. programs.

If your organization is interested in bringing the class to your location, please contact the SLC Sheriff's office as they may consider hosting the program off site at another time.
