St. Lucie County's Family Friendly Resource

January 31, 2013

Happy February! Lot's of fun family festivals will soon be upon us here in Saint Lucie County and we are gearing up to attend many of them. We have new events coming in almost daily so be sure to check out the calendar in between issues so you don't miss anything.

The Oxbow Eco-Center is dedicating February to "Saving the Endangered" and will be having a Conservation Poster Contest for kids this month. Throughout February, children are asked to create a “Save The Endangered” poster where they can draw a species of their choice and write how people can save this endangered plant or animal. Posters will be displayed throughout the month and there will be prizes at the end of the month for the most original poster. This contest is designed for ages 5-8. For more information about this fun contest for kids, please stop by Oxbow Eco-Center at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie (across from the Publix Shopping Center) or call 772-785-5833.

Our looking ahead survey is now closed. A BIG THANKS to everyone who responded. We will be tallying the responses over the next couple of days to see what changes, if any, we will be making to the Newsletter. We will try to incorporate the changes into our 2/8 issue, which also happens to be our one-year birthday! More on that next week.

Come See Us!  We will be out at Friday Fest in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce from 5:30 PM to 9 PM tonight (2/1). If you have never been, this is one fun night for the whole family. Be sure to drop by our booth with the kids because we will have a free craft and activity for them to do.

Are you ready for some football? With the big game on Sunday, I'm sure many of you are planning your Superbowl parties and preparing to spend a fabulous day with family and friends. Funny how this day has become a holiday of sorts...food, drink, family, friends and fun...what can be better than that? So, no matter who are routing for - Ravens or Niners - I hope your team wins and that you have a splendid and safe Superbowl Sunday and a wonderful week ahead!
