Harvest suffers loss of valuable food due to truck theft...
"Disappointing", "disheartening", these were a few words that came to mind when we discovered that our box truck, which contained 5 pallets of food for needy families in St. Lucie County had been stolen early Monday morning. By now, you may have heard the news reports and feel the same...that a charity would be the target of a crime is always startling.
After having the opportunity to speak to several clients who utilize our services, something became very apparent. People rely on the programs that we offer. Setbacks are a part of life and unfortunately, this is especially true for many of the families that we serve here in St. Lucie County. We set the best example by picking ourselves up, coming together as a community and not letting the bad choices of others get us down.
In 2012, our campus provided emergency services to just under 2,000 households. We offered over 350 individual classes for those who made a commitment to change their economic situation. Over 425 individuals a day utilize our cost share grocery program. There is no thief that can hold us back. It's time to find the resources that we need to replace our truck and keep our momentum going forward.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and prayers. I urge you to work together with us to make a positive change in our community!
