August already! It seems this summer is flying by and I can't believe that in just 17 days our beautiful, little MiniMac will be going off to first grade. Although there is a part of me that welcomes the few quiet hours of uninterrupted work time that coincides with the kiddo being in school, I know I'm really going to miss her along with the freedom to do as we please as afforded by the summer.
With all the running around we've done since our "big girl" went off to college, the reality of our new home dynamics have not had a chance to sink in. When I take a moment to imagine what it is going to feel like when our "baby" is at school all day and our teen is not running in and out of the house like a whirlwind, it makes my heart feel a little sad as I know our house will never be the same again.
Back to School - Are YOU getting ready for Back to School? Here are a few things that might help:
Florida sales tax holiday begins today (Friday, 8/3) and runs through 11:59 PM on Sunday, 8/5. No tax will be collected on clothes, handbags, backpacks, diapers bags, etc. that are $75 per item or less as well as some school supplies that are $15 per item or less. JC Penney is offering free back-to-school haircuts in their salons for children in Kingergarden through 6th grade. You'll need to make an appointment (and they may be limited) so call 855-JCP-KIDS to make one.
MISSION: BACKPACK, a huge school supply drive hosted by Premier Wellness Centers in Tradition Square, will be held next Saturday (8/11). There will be festivities and great incentives to donate so mark your calendars and plan to attend if you can.

Jack and the Beanstalk! We have a family four pack of tickets to give away for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Sunrise Theatre for the Performing Arts in Fort Pierce. The show is on Friday, August 17th at 7:00 PM. Giveaway ends on Sunday, August 12th at 11:59 PM.
Finally, we were thrilled to learn that the Macaroni Kid brand continues to grow here in Florida. Our newest edition is in Fort Lauderdale! If you have friends and family in that area, please share the Macaroni Love and recommend Fort Lauderdale Macaroni Kid to them!
