Celebrating 10 Years Of Tradition At The Taste Of Little Italy Presented By Galbani

The Tradition Taste of Little Italy is celebrating ten years at Tradition Square January 27-29, 2017. The Italian festival has grown in the past ten years and event producer Jerry Somma is humbled and grateful. “It has been an honor and a privilege to share our Traditions and create new memories throughout the Treasure Coast area” said Jerry Somma.

Just announced is the incredible entertainment coming to the Treasure Coast Land Rover and Jaguar stage to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Italian festival, the Taste of Little Italy presented by Galbani in Port St. Lucie. Bring chairs and blankets to watch all of the talented entertainers throughout the weekend. Local Italian singer Vincent Lanciano and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Youth Touring Company will entertain as well as Taste favorites including romantic performer Franco Corso, Lou Vilano and the classically trained Elio Scaccio with their silky, smooth vocals, they will have the audience in the palm of their hands with their classic Italian songs. Then, it’s time to get down with daughter of Italian immigrants, Maria De Crescenzo who tours with KC and the Sunshine Band, and has for the past twenty years as a backup vocalist. 

Kicking-off the Taste is the “King of Doo Wop” Tommy Mara and The Crests, Friday night at 8pm. His voice is a force to be reckoned with as he hits high falsetto notes as he performs the hits “Cara Mia,” “The Angels Listened In,” to the hit “16 Candles,” and many more! 

Get ready for headliner and Grand Marshall of the Taste, the hottest name on television, Salvatore Valentinetti from NBC’s America’s Got Talent. This young talent has won over Heidi Klum and thousands across the country, Port St. Lucie is excited to welcome him to the Tradition Taste of Little Italy. Sal was the fifth finalist in this year’s competition. He has brought Italian classics to the forefront of America by performing songs from Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra to Bobby Darin with “Mack the Knife”. New generations sat and watched Sal compete week after week. This crooner was recently working in a pizzeria in New Jersey having auditioned for American Idol, Sal continued to work in the pizzeria and then decided to audition for America’s Got Talent. Known as Sal the Voice, he is full of gratitude these days for all of the support. With over 92,000 likes on Facebook, Sal has become a household name. He will be performing Saturday night at the Taste of Little Italy on January 28th at 8:00pm. On Sunday night at 6pm, the entertainment will bring you back to the days of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons with the group, The Atlantic City Boys, singing all the hits, these Jersey boys will keep you on your feet all night.

Food and Wine Seminars

Each year national and local chef’s come out to Tradition and instruct the public on how to cook a specialty dish. In the Galbani cheese cooking pavilion free cooking demonstrations are offered. Galbani cheese has crafted the finest Italian cheese for over 100 years. Galbani cheese, the festival’s Title Sponsor, is Italy's favorite cheese brand. Today, Galbani brings its timeless tradition from Italy to the American table with the delicious taste of mozzarella, ricotta, fresh mozzarella, and snack cheese crafted and sold in the United States.

The cooking pavilion will be filled with nationally known chefs most notably, Marco Sciortino from Galbani along with special guests for a taste of Italy throughout the weekend. Seminars will be held Friday at 7pm, Saturday at noon, 2pm, 4pm and Sunday at noon, 2pm and 4pm. To compliment the palate of food, Voga Italia is the proud wine sponsor celebrating ten years of taste and style. Their collection ranges from white to red, and sparkling to sweet. Join us as world renowned wine connoisseur Anthony Acampa as he takes you on a journey with your palate at the free wine seminars featuring Bella Bellina, Farmers of Wine, and Luna di Luna. Free wine demonstrations will be held Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm and Sunday at1pm and 3pm. 

Food

Tradition Square bursts with food booths and vendors cooking up grandma’s favorites from traditional dishes of pasta, pizza, and sausage and peppers to the authentic food of Italy with shrimp scampi, pinwheels, seafood pescatore, calamari, antipasto platters, arancini’s, Italian egg rolls, fried raviolis, and Philly Cheesesteaks. Then, don’t miss all the Italian dessert with homemade zeppola’s, sfogliatella, and cannoli’s. If Italian food is what you love, then sign up for the Aunt Mary’s pizza eating contest on Sunday, January 29th at 2:30pm. Charity 

Little Smiles is the official charity of the Tradition Taste of Little Italy. On Saturday, January 28th the Galbani charity cheese building contest featuring local celebrities will be at 5pm. Little Smiles will have a booth on site raising awareness with kids activities as well as accepting donations. This is a volunteer driven, non-profit 501(c) 3 children’s charity. Their mission is to help heal hearts and create little smiles by providing gifts and fun activities to children impacted by serious illness, homelessness or tragedy. With the guidance of local professionals such as doctors, nurses, child life specialists and social workers, we strive to help kids escape their unfortunate circumstances, even if only for a short period of time.

The three-day family Italian street festival will have national entertainment, authentic food, festival rides and games, free wine and cooking demonstrations and lots more. Admission is $7.00, discounted multiple day passes are available. Children 12 & under are free and there is free parking. Event hours: Friday 3pm-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm, and Sunday 10am-8pm.
