City of Port St. Lucie Offers Spooky, Safe Fun This Month

The month of October is packed with options for residents and visitors in the City of Port St. Lucie to enjoy some fun outdoors and get into the Halloween spirit.

The October events kick off this weekend with Port St. Lucie’s Oktoberfest at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, which runs Friday, October 14, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. This event is brought to you by the German American Club of the Treasure Coast and the City of Port St. Lucie. Admission is free. Come out and enjoy delicious food, great beer and lots of fun for all ages, with crafts, food vendors, music and entertainment.

On Wednesday, October 19th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., join Port St. Lucie’s Parks & Recreation Department for an unforgettable Halloween Party and Special Needs Dance. Special Recreation participants, caregivers and friends are invited to spend an evening of haunted fun. There will be music, dancing, snacks and lasting memories to take home. Come in your best costume. This event costs $5 for participants who register and pay before October 19. At the door, it will cost $6 for youth and $1 for caregivers.

On Friday, October 21st, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Parks & Recreation Department’s Haunted Happenings event at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center will give children and adults another chance to have some pre Halloween fun. Come celebrate the season with music, food and games. This event costs $5 for children and adults in costumes are free.

Spend the weekend before Halloween at Port St. Lucie’s Fall Fun Fest at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. This event is brought to you by the City of Port St. Lucie and the Port St. Lucie Downtown Lion’s Club. A fun time for all ages, this festival will include carnival rides, live entertainment, craft vendors and food for purchase. Our young visitors can start their Halloween festivities by taking part in a costume contest and trick or treating on Saturday, from 5 to 7 p.m. The festival runs Friday, October 28th from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, October 29th from noon-10 p.m. and Sunday, October 30th from noon to 6 p.m.

The City hasn’t left out its youngest residents. Those ages 1- to- 5 years old can come to the Minsky Gym Haunted House Time for Tots on October 27th at 10:30 a.m. for Halloween snacks and lots of spooky fun. Kids remember to wear your costumes! And parents remember to bring your camera to capture the spooky fun with your children in costume! Participation by parents is greatly encouraged. The cost is $3
per child.

Wrap up the month of October with a safe trick or treating experience at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens at the Bootanical Halloween Trick or Treat Ramble in the Gardens on October 31st. Join the Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens for trick or treating among the trees in a safe, controlled, no-cars location. Trick or treaters ages 0 to 13 are invited to come in costume with their parents from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. No drop offs. Admission into the Gardens is free for this event.

Organizations that would like to participate in this event can claim table space in the Gardens, set up a table, decorate and staff the table with volunteers who enjoy the joy of Halloween. The organizations will be responsible for having sufficient candy, snacks or treats for the children. To participate, please call 772-337-1959.
