Special Events Coming To The Manatee Center

Check out these special events coming to the Manatee Observation and Education Center this fall!

Saturday October 8th – Family Snorkel and Seine (10am-1pm)

Join Manatee Center staff in learning more about our lagoon by exploring the water! Get a crash course in lagoon ecology and scientific methods for learning more about the animals that live there with games, seining and dip netting, and snorkeling. Bring snorkel gear and lunch. This family program will work best for families with children between the ages of 6-12. Cost is $5 per person. Call 772-466-1600 ext 3337 to register.

Thursday October 20th – Sunset Naturalist Paddle Family Kayaking Program (6pm-7:30pm)

Whether you’re a seasoned kayaker or you’ve never kayaked, enjoy a sunset paddle with a Manatee Center naturalist on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon. All ages welcome. Quick paddle instruction included for beginners. $15 if you need to use one of our kayaks, $5 if you’re bringing your own. Call 772-466-1600 ext 3337 to register.

Friday, October 29th – Creepy Creatures of the Sea! (10am-1pm)

Come meet the creepiest of creatures in the sea at the Manatee Center! This free family program features games, crafts, face painting and more. Come face-to-face with real anglerfish, deep sea isopods, and many other REAL deep-sea creatures as you learn all about them during our Creepy Creatures presentations throughout the day. Wear your costume to receive a special goody bag! No registration necessary.

Saturday November 19th - Riverside Clean-Up Event for National Family Volunteering Day (9am-11am)

Participate in the National Family Volunteering Day by joining MOEC in a riverside cleanup! Trash from cars, boats and businesses wind up in our river every day and it takes dedicated volunteers who care about the environment to help clean it up. No cost to participate. December 19th – 21st – Winter Break Mini Camp (9am-2pm) 

Just because it’s winter break doesn’t mean you can’t go to camp! Join the Manatee Center for a Winter Break Mini-Camp where we’ll explore our local ecosystems with cool field trips and lots of time in the water.
