Artists for a Cause to Hold Auditions for 2016/2017 Season

Dates/times announced for general auditions for student, volunteer & professional performing artists

August 25, 2016
Artists for a Cause (A4AC), a  non-profit organization based in Palm City, will be hosting their annual auditions for exceptional performing artists, by appointment, on September 27, 2016 and 28th beginning at 6:00 PM in the South Fork High School Auditorium.

Artists for a Cause supports artists who serve community needs. Student, volunteer, and professional performing artists will be considered for a number of exciting opportunities, programs and events - paid and volunteer - including but not limited to: Therapeutic Arts Program, which sends the healing power of visual and performing arts to children and the elderly; Support for Charities, which helps artists and charities to get the most out of their collaboration; Music Salon Showcases, which develop the most gifted young artists in the A4AC network; and Singing with the Stars, A4AC’s signature fundraising event which pairs local community stars with professional singers who compete in front of a live audience.

Outstanding performing artists of every age in any genre who want to be considered should schedule an appointment to audition. Artists will be assigned a five minute audition spot on one of the two days. Instrumentalists and singers should be prepared to perform two unaccompanied 16 bar varied selections (ballad and up tempo), or one selection up to 32 bars. Artists who possess another performing arts talent are asked to prepare one minute of unaccompanied material to share. It’s also possible to submit a video audition in lieu of attending the live audition.

“This is the second year we have held auditions for A4AC,” said Terry Barber, internationally acclaimed countertenor and founder of Artists for a Cause. “Last year we uncovered new exciting talent that was previously untapped locally, resulting in success not only for the artists we support, but also the community need they address. Our programs not only support student and professional artists with educational and professional opportunity, but also rely on their talent to be successful in meeting critical community needs. Professional artists are always compensated, and student artists are offered invaluable development opportunities. In this ‘gig economy’ we are proud to be an additional slice of artists’ financial success.”

Many students who audition are also part of A4AC High School Clubs at Martin County High (the school’s largest club), Southfork High, The Pine School, Jensen Beach High, and a Club that will soon be reactivated at Dreyfoos School for the Arts. The Clubs engage arts students to support the mission of the organization. Teachers who are interested in being a Club coordinator should contact Megan@a4ac.org.

Please email Megan@a4ac.org for an appointment or for more information.

A4AC will hold auditions on September 27th & 28th to cast the 2016/2017 season to improve the community through visual and performing arts.

About Artists for a Cause

Artists for a Cause supports artists who serve community needs. Some programs help artists and charities to get the most out of their collaboration, while most produce results directly, by feeding the poor, healing the sick, or solving other problems through unique artistic solutions. Additionally, we never ask artist professionals in a struggling industry to donate or give away their livelihood.  No program is merely about art for arts’ sake – Artists for a Cause is about the arts as a solution.
