Disney's "Descendants" & New Crazy 8 Math Club In SLC Libraries

Disney’s “Descendants” Descend on the Fort Pierce Library September 19, 2015

Find out what happens when some of Disney’s most famous villains have teenagers as the Fort Pierce Branch Library presents Disney’s “Descendants” (2015) as part of its Movie Matinee on Saturday, September 19th at 2:00 PM.

Featuring Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart and Cameron Boyce, the movie follows a group of trouble-making teens, who are descendants of famous fairy-tale villains, as they are granted attendance at a prep school in the kingdom with the heroes’ children. Rated G, “Descendants” has a running time of 112 minutes. Best suited for ages 5-10, moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket and refreshments will be provided. 

Parents are also reminded to stop by the Fort Pierce Library every Wednesday (Pre-K Jamboree) and Friday (Toddler Time) at 10:30 AM for storytimes, along with Family Storytime on the first Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM, and Puppet Theater on the fourth Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM.

New Crazy 8 Math Club Comes to Lakewood Park, Port St. Lucie Libraries 

Two St. Lucie County Libraries are “getting crazy” with math. The Lakewood Park and Port St. Lucie Branch Libraries are offering a new math program: the Crazy 8s Club. 

A totally new kind of math club, the Crazy 8s will have students building stuff, running, jumping and making music. The program will feature glow-in-the-dark geometry, a toilet paper Olympics, a bouncy dice explosion and more. 

The Crazy 8s Club is limited to the first 20 students that arrive and is offered at the Port St. Lucie Branch Library every Wednesday at 3:30 PM from September 16th through November 4th for students in kindergarten – 2nd grade and at the Lakewood Park Branch Library every Thursday at 3:30 PM from September 17th through November 5th for students in grades 3-5.

The Port St. Lucie Branch Library is located 180 Prima Vista Boulevard, while the Lakewood Park Branch Library is located at 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce.
