Back To School Expo Comes to the Fenn Center 8/1

July 31, 2015
As the summer break draws to a close, parents and students will turn their thoughts to getting ready to go back to school. To help families prepare, the Pink Rose Foundation in partnership with a coalition of community organizations will host its annual Back to School Expo at the Havert L. Fenn Center this Saturday, August 1st from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce.

At the 2015 Back to School Expo, parents can receive “one stop" access to valuable resources and services for the whole family, including but not limited to: health screenings, safety information, budgeting, nutrition, and other community resources information, book bags and school supplies distribution to our deserving students in support of school readiness.

The purpose of this expo is to ensure children are ready for the first day of school. The health department will be in attendance to schedule vaccinations for those students who have not received them and to schedule physicals for children who need them. Florida Community Health Centers and Healthy Kids will also be there to provide information and sign students up for Kid Care insurance. Other health organizations and businesses will be there to provide information on tutoring, healthy eating, community resources, bicycle safety, and to distribute backpacks and school supplies. The Pink Rose Foundation and its partners would like for each child to walk out of the Fenn Center fully ready for school.

Over 1500 children attended this event last year, and the organizing group is planning for even more for this year. While the event is free and open to the public, children must be in attendance to receive a free backpack

The Havert L. Fenn Center is located at 2000 Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce.
